Masters of Arts in Teaching Secondary
The Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary (MAT-S) requires 36 semester hours of graduate coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree and successful completion of a comprehensive written examination. The MAT-S program is designed for individuals with a bachelor’s degree in a discipline other than education who wish to enter the teaching profession through the alternate route. The MAT-S qualifies individuals for licensure in a secondary teaching field. Program graduates are eligible to be recommended for the Class AA Mississippi Educator Alternate Route License. This degree program is offered through Academic Outreach and Continuing Education as a hybrid online program.
